Thanksgiving weekend
小夕 发表于 2005-10-07 23:16:24
CAN's Thanksgiving Day, the second Monday in October.
Unlike the American tradition of remembering the Pilgrims and settling in the New World, Canadians give thanks for a successful harvest. The harvest season falls earlier in Canda compared to the United States due to the simple fact that Canada is further north. Most families in Canada celebrate Thanksgiving with a special dinner for family and friends. The dinner usually includes a roasted turkey and pumpkin pie.
I will go to Toronto tomorrow, spending this long Thanksgiving weekend with my Uncle's family. It must be an exciting weekend. I can't wait for good food and large shopping malls...I luv thanksgiving!!!!
James wrote to us the day before yesterday. He has been thinking about having a small thanksgiving potluck for our shortliffe/tracy peoples Saturday night . They also plan going to the grad club after the "pigging out session" (James called our thanksgiving dinner in such a funny way). That must be fun. I wish I could join them. Enjoy your time, guys and gals!
